Three Castle Head, Cork

Quick Summary: Dun Lough castle, Dun a Locha, the fort of the lake, is perched on the edge of 100-metre cliffs on the western headland above the Mizen Head. The castle consists of three towers, hence the title Three Castle”, connected by a rampart wall of some 20 feet in height; one of the highest medieval walls still intact in Ireland. ⁣
A weathered stone ruin stands on a grassy hill overlooking a tranquil lake surrounded by rolling hills. The sky above is overcast, casting a muted light over the landscape. Wildflowers and rocks dot the foreground, enhancing the scene's natural beauty.

While the castle and lake itself were a bit of a blowout in terms of available light and wind hitting my tripod, I manage to get off a few around the cliff faces. Creeping towards the edge on my arse, not for the faint-hearted.⁣⁣

A coastal landscape shows rugged cliffs with greenery at the top, sloping into the ocean. The water appears smooth and misty, indicating long-exposure photography. Rock formations jut out into the sea, and a cloudy sky covers the horizon.

This place is so special. So many interesting find for photographs. Can’t believe I have never visited here in the 20 years I lived down the road.⁣⁣

A coastal cliff scene with jagged rocks and a large boulder in the center of a narrow sea inlet. The grass-covered cliffs surround the inlet and extend into the ocean under an overcast sky. The water appears to be in motion with a blurred effect.

If you are up for a bit of a hike then this is a gold location for photography. I only barely scratched the surface today. Somewhere to come back in all weathers for sure.⁣⁣⁣

Rocky coastline with jagged rocks extending into the ocean. The sea appears calm with gentle waves, and some rocks in the foreground have yellow moss or seaweed on them. The sky is overcast, and there is a patch of green vegetation on the right.
